Gillian McCabe

Gillian is a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist and is the founder of Gillian McCabe Physiotherapy for Women and of Station House Health & Wellbeing.

Gillian qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 2004 from the University of the West of England, Bristol. She worked in various roles within the NHS in Aneurin Bevan Health Board and Cardiff & Vale University Health Board.

In 2006, Gillian started her road to specialisation in women’s health physiotherapy (as it was known at that time). She worked in the University Hospital of Wales & Llandough Hospital in Cardiff during the next 10 years. In 2008, Gillian began part-time private work through her company Bumps, Birth & Beyond where she offered mobile physiotherapy services for women with pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain.

In 2016, an opportunity arose to work from a gynaecology clinic in Cardiff (Infiniti Healthcare). Gillian began to grow her private practice for pelvic health physiotherapy services at this time. Over the next couple of years, the business grew and Gillian made the decision to find her own space from which to run her business. In 2018, Gillian and her Husband John renovated a small clinic space in Victoria Park, Cardiff where she would offer pelvic health services for women over the next 3 years. In that time, Gillian began to work with other physiotherapists, including Shakira Hassan.

By 2021, the business had expanded noticeably and there was a need for a larger space. Gillian had always hoped to offer a multi-practitioner space for individuals to enjoy therapy and training on their road to recovery, rehabilitation & wellbeing. So, when the Old Station in St Nicholas became available the move made sense and Gillian & John set out on another renovation project (with a lot of help from their friends!)

In January 2022, Station House Health & Wellbeing was opened and over the next three years the space has grown to include various therapists and practitioners. The hope is that this space continues to grow into the future and offer more and more support for individuals hoping to improve their health & wellbeing.

Gillian’s main clinical focus is pelvic health physiotherapy. She offers assessment and management of bladder, bowel, pelvic pain, prolapse and natal issues. She is qualified to offer laser therapy, MAPLe high resolution pelvic floor rehabilitation & pessary fitting & management.
